>>CLUES<<

1. Our hunt begins at the corner of Hampton and Kiest

At the largest park donation in Dallas, to say the least.

There’s lots to enjoy, including trail dashing.

Go to the spot where you hear amphibians splashing.

2. This famous building was designed by a Dallas architect.

Head north a couple miles to find a former barbecue shack.

Houses weren’t the only things crafted by Charles Dilbeck.

Go inside and throw a couple margaritas back!

3. There are a few places a traveler can stay on Fort Worth Ave.

In the 50’s, a travel book told Black tourists what rooms they could have.

This Roadside motel has had more than one name.

Head to the last Green Book motel in Dallas, it’s claim to fame.

4. This second high school in Oak Cliff is nearly one hundred years old.

The stairs of this regal stone building, seen best at dusk, are manifold.

For those who live near, the Bison Band they will hear!

5. In November 1963, the man who shot Kennedy tried to flee.

You could catch a flick and enjoy conditioned air.  The president’s assassin has a plaque on his chair.

6. This building was constructed from cement and lime

Using materials local to the neighborhood at the time.

This place is rumored to have educated Bonnie Parker

From the La Reunión French Colony, this is a marker.

7. This storied building has a deed that was passed-around.

In 1914, it burned to the ground.

Lake Cliff Park is the place it would have been found.

8. For kids who grew up in Oak Cliff, you likely visited the monkeys at the department store.

This shopping destination in one of the first planned communities had a bank, a theater, pharmacy, and more.

Originally developed by Angus Wynne of Six Flags fame

Now it’s getting a face-lift and won’t look the same.

Good luck!!
