Old Oak Cliff Conservation League Fall Home Tour
Lake Cliff Historic District
This stunning home is a beautifully designed example of an Arts and Crafts bungalow, and is a perfect example of how a new home can be designed to blend with an existing neighborhood - in this case the Lake Cliff Historic District in north Oak Cliff.
Winner of the Preservation Dallas Award for Best New Construction in an Historic District, the home features formal living and dining rooms, a family room, a library/study, 3 bedrooms, and 3 baths. Beautiful hardwood floors and Arts and Crafts trim work are featured throughout. The master bedroom has a view of downtown Dallas.
The house is a wonderful addition to its Lake Cliff neighbors, one that is respectful of and sensitive to the historical character and fabric of the area. It is also a perfect example of new construction within a Historic District. Its character genuinely reflects the style of homes built in the 1920s.
Lake Cliff resident and award-winning architect Robert P. Garza (of RPGA Design Group, Inc. Architects) and his wife Brenda Garza oversaw and managed the design and construction. Robert has been the architect for several comparable renovation/addition projects throughout the DFW Metroplex, notably in Turtle Creek, Fort Worth, and at his personal home in Lake Cliff. RPGA Design Group, Inc. was also the architectural firm for The Homes of Kings Way on Kings Highway, which gained respect and praise from the neighborhood and community, and won Preservation Texas and Preservation Dallas awards for the restoration of these historically significant buildings.
The property is situated 1 block south of Lake Cliff Park in the Historic Neighborhood of Lake Cliff. The Lake Cliff neighborhood is also immediately south of the Trinity River Project. This is the first example of new construction infill in the Lake Cliff Historic Neighborhood, and stays true to the area's historical character.
